Trinity International University

Bannockburn is home to a university that boasts undergraduate, graduate and seminary schools locally, as well as a law school based in Santa Ana, Calif. and smaller regional centers in both Florida and Chicago.

Trinity (TIU) is affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America, an association of about 1,500 autonomous and interdependent churches in 50 different countries. But students from many different denominations are welcomed to Trinity each year. The majority of Trinity students represent non-EFCA churches. The nature of the university allows Christians from many different backgrounds to study, worship and serve together.

Undergraduates may choose from over 30 majors and 23 specialized minors, ranging from accounting to entrepreneurship and from pre-physical therapy to graphic design or youth ministries. The graduate program is geared toward students who want to become experts in their chosen fields from a Christian perspective. It includes programs in bioethics, leadership and teaching. Finally, master’s and doctoral programs in divinity are offered.

Several distinct programs set TIU apart. One is the fact that students interested in bioethics, intercultural studies and nonprofit leadership can graduate in 4 years with a BA/MA.

In addition, high school graduates who know they want to go into ministry may graduate with a Master in Divinity (MDiv) only five years after high school graduation.

The influence of Trinity divinity doctoral program graduates can be seen in Christian leadership throughout the world and in many leading higher education institutions. Trinity PhDs head up international ministries such as SIM and Global Leadership Focus and can be found serving in key administration roles and teaching in the classrooms at such universities as Duke, Notre Dame, Princeton and Cornell.”

Students are also involved in the Deerfield Optimist Club, the local Relay for Life event, Bannockburn’s BBQ Challenge, local church Christmas tree sales and they regularly can be seen helping the homeless and underprivileged in North Chicago.
