East Moline Location and Transportation

The city of East Moline lies on the shores of the Mississippi River in northwest Illinois, and is a proud part of the Quad Cities. Ideally situated virtually midway between the east and west coasts, East Moline is only 162 miles west of Chicago and 237 miles north of St. Louis.


Area residents and industry take advantage of a convenient, expansive transportation system composed of interstate highways I-280, I-74, I-80 and I-88. The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, Iowa Interstate Railroad and Davenport, Rock Island and Northwestern Railroads provide daily passenger and freight service. The nearest Amtrak service is in Galesburg, Illinois, approximately 45 miles south of East Moline. Local transportation needs are also met by taxis and community bus service.

For those requiring air travel, the Quad City International Airport is a mere six miles from the city. Located on 2,300 acres, the airport serves northwestern Illinois and northeastern Iowa with 76 flights per day. Five major airlines offer service to airports across the United States. Corporate aircraft utilize Davenport Municipal Airport, home to two runways and sponsor of the yearly Quad City Air Show. Davenport Municipal Airport also serves as a reliever airport for the Quad City International Airport.
