Just as the Elgin business community is becoming more and more widely known as a hub for innovation and technology, so too are the marketing and technological resources the Elgin Area Chamber can provide to businesses and residents alike.

A new enhancement to the Elgin Area Chamber technology implemented this past year to assist our members in maximizing their EAC membership is a member management system called ChamberMaster®. Used by over 2,000 Chambers of Commerce nationwide, the sophisticated database program provides integrated modules designed to empower and increase visibility for our members. The Member Information Center and the free, customizable, search engine optimized business profile each Chamber member receives on the Elgin Area Chamber website ( is now powered by these modules. Members now have a simple yet powerful assortment of tools to help them maximize online branding efforts and to increase their exposure and drive additional traffic to their own web sites. Members can edit their mini web page as often as they like – inserting hyperlinks, social media outlets, emails and more. Hot deals and coupons can be posted on their page for all consumers, Member2Member Deals, jobs listed at eacWorks jobs bank, news releases, and events can be added to the community calendar seen by thousands each week.

In addition to the award-winning Chamber website, the state-of-the-art Elgin Development Group website ( provides users with everything from customized Google maps showing the city’s various business parks and TIF districts to information about the local workforce; area business services; key demographics and report downloads; and quality of life information. A new small business section delivers information and resources specifically designed for businesses with less than 25 employees.

Another new innovative marketing initiative available to Chamber members is the opportunity to have a professional quality video created to promote their business. These videos range in scope from simple on-camera interviews with key company representatives set against green screen to professionally produced pieces shot on location by Chamber staff, complete with narration, b-roll footage, special effects and more. Video package prices start at less than $100 and completed videos are posted to the Chamber’s YouTube page and cross-promoted via the Chamber’s website and social media outlets.

Our monthly printed Chamber newsletter, a staple of the Chamber’s marketing efforts for years, is now the EAC Business Connection, with the emphasis on connecting the business community to the Elgin Area Chamber. To serve our more tech-savvy members, the EAC Business Connection has entered the digital age and is available in a dynamic digital format. The electronic version of the monthly newsletter features links to photos, web sites, multimedia and other dynamic content and is even mobile-friendly for members on the go.

Responding to high demand, the Chamber recently released a brand new, full color printed map of Elgin and the surrounding area. This 24" x 36" (4" x 9" folded) street map features a detailed street index, callouts of important amenities such as fire stations, hospitals, business parks, historic districts, recreational facilities, and ads from various Chamber members. The map is also available on the Chamber and EDG websites in dynamic digital format with special multimedia callouts and content.

Over the past 12 months, the Chamber has doubled our social media footprint on Facebook thru a variety of postings and programs designed to increase engagement between the Chamber and the community at large. Twitter and Instagram users can follow new weekly hashtag campaigns, such as #MemberMonday, #TastyTuesday and #WelcomeWednesday, to stay abreast of member promotions, restaurant specials and brand new Chamber members.

“Technology is a tool and leveraging that technology from a marketing standpoint helps the Elgin Area Chamber cultivate additional connectivity with our businesses as well as the community,” said EAC Director of Marketing and Special Events Jason Pawlowski. “This enables us to be more responsive to our members’ marketing needs thus providing additional, marked value to their Chamber membership.”
