There are many reasons Elk Grove has risen above other communities to receive accolades and recognition. The village has made the effort to enhance the beauty and character of the area, and has invested over $10 million in things such as landscaping, decorative streetlights and brick crosswalks in residential areas.

The homes that are available in Elk Grove give potential buyers a good deal of styles to choose between. In addition to custom-built home options, the village also has a variety of split-level, ranch, raised ranch and two-story homes.

Johnny Christensen of NW Village Realty, Inc. in Elk Grove says that one, two and three-bedroom condominiums are available in the area, some with garages, washers and dryers for each unit. “There is also a great selection of townhouses, some of which have two-car garages and basements,” he says, adding, “Some are located near lakes and forest preserves.”

Carrie Ralls is a real estate broker forPrudential American Heritage Real Estate in Elk Grove. She mentions that many people who grow up in the area stay there, buying homes to raise their own family in the village. She says, “Some reasons that other people choose Elk Grove are the proximity to the expressways, the fact that the tax base is low and the good schools.” She also says, “Plus we have a truly phenomenal Park District.”

Ralls points out that the homes on the east side of the village are generally older and the newer developments are mostly on the west side. “The downtown area is great,” she says, “It has a movie theater, fitness center and Busse Woods nearby for recreation. Also, Woodfield Mall is only five minutes away.”

The Village of Elk Grove has a range of residential properties, as well as a location that is convenient to those who commute, or just want easy access to the highway system.

The abundance of recreation available and the fact that the village continues to invest in the character of the area help keep this community an attractive place for those looking for a place to settle down.
