contentsThe Grand Corridor IL Chamberads

Elmwood Park Village President

I am pleased to report that the Elmwood Park business community remains vibrant with many new developments underway. The current economy remains stable and property values in general are strong and steadily on the rise. With that comes the promise of new businesses opening and the security that current business owners will continue to flourish. I would like to thank all our local business owners in the community and those who are members of the Chamber. Your loyalty to Elmwood Park bonds our community together and helps to ensure that our Village will continue to prosper.

We have seen quite a lot of private investment in Elmwood Park in this past year. Some examples include the five luxury brick townhouses which are near completion at 75th Avenue and Diversey. On the south side of town, four brick townhouses are also near completion at Palmer and 72nd Court. A developer just broke ground on a nine-unit building on Harlem Avenue as well. These developments showcase top-quality construction and high-end finishes and will be a great addition to the neighborhood. On Grand Avenue, Elmcrest Banquets recently purchased the former Armand’s property. They will develop and improve the site for use as their parking lot, not only beautifying Grand Avenue but also enhancing safety in the area.

The Village continues to invest along Grand Avenue, as well, by purchasing vacant property at both 7550 W. Grand Ave. and 7405 W. Grand Ave. The Village is requesting and evaluating proposals from parties interested in developing these sites to enhance this important business corridor.

The Village’s investment in infrastructure moves forward too as we near completion of a major two-year street improvement program. This project will provide benefits throughout the town for many years to come. And our flood mitigation project is winding down. I am pleased to see that many areas have already experienced relief from flooding after heavy rains.

We continue to seek funding for a new underpass at the Grand Avenue railroad crossing. We are actively urging both our state and federal officials to fund this project to improve safety, relieve traffic congestion and boost economic development throughout the region.

Our work has just begun and together with our residents and business community, we will continue to grow and improve Elmwood Park.

Sincerely,

Angelo “Skip” Saviano
