Library

Located in the heart of downtown Flossmoor is the Flossmoor Public Library. Opened in December of 2004, this modern 38,000-square-foot building offers an array of useful resources utilized by children, teens and adults.

The new facility, which was designed and constructed from scratch, has already facilitated the expansion of the library’s collection. Some of its collections have even doubled in size, such as the large print books, audio-visual materials and books for teenagers. In addition, there is added space for children and families to participate in programs that encourage the love of reading and lifelong learning.

The new library also incorporated space for lectures, the viewing of movies and art exhibits, Internet access, the conducting of research and areas for relaxing next to the fireplace while reading the newspaper. In addition, the library offers enhanced access to technology with more space for computer use (including Wi-Fi), individual and group study spaces, a children’s story and program room, separate youth study areas and a computer lab, a quiet reading room with lounge chairs, and a basement that provides the library with flexible-use space that can accommodate future needs.
