Glendale Heights is headed by a forward-thinking governing entity. Leading the Village is the village president (mayor) and six trustees. The Village is also composed of the Administration; Parks, Recreation & Facilities; Community Development; Police; Public Services; and Finance departments.

The Village maintains a progressive outlook, implementing projects for renovating or establishing new facilities and park sites.

GLENDALE HEIGHTS POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Glendale Heights Police Department has more than 100 dedicated members. Three main divisions—administration, patrol and support operations—oversee specialized units such as K-9, community outreach, traffic, school resource, investigations, etc. Excellent community outreach programs are also offered, including D.A.R.E., G.R.E.A.T., the Citizen’s Police Academy, Neighborhood Watch, the CHARACTER COUNTS Coalition! and Safety Town classes.

GLENSIDE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

The Glenside Fire Protection District provides fire and medical services to most Glendale Heights residents (those located south of the Illinois Central railroad tracks), plus all residents of Glen Ellyn Countryside. The district responds to 2,500 emergency incidents annually. Eighteen full-time suppression personnel; 20 paid, on-call personnel; two chief officers; and five administrative support personnel compose the district.

BLOOMINGDALE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

Serving a portion of Glendale Heights (those located north of the IC railroad tracks) is the Bloomingdale Fire Protection District, which employs 53 full-time staff members; 44 sworn personnel; six paid, on-call firefighters; five 911 operators; two civilian fire inspectors; and an administrative support staff.
