Community Introduction

In the 1800s, current-day Glendale Heights was composed primarily of farmland. With just more than 100 residents, a petition for incorporation was filed on June 16, 1959, with approval for organization as a Village given on July 13, 1959.

The moniker was formed from the name of two neighbors—Glen Ellyn and Bloomingdale. The word Heights illustrates the distinct features of the area, which encompasses two specific elevations with a 100-foot variation.

Today, Glendale Heights stands as a contemporary residential community composed of many urban aspects, while also maintaining the small-town essence that its 32,000 residents and hundreds of businesses have come to cherish.

As the Village progresses, it preserves an enterprising environment by providing superior services and resources designed to enhance its standard of living. Modern public facilities, beautiful neighborhoods, outstanding school districts, up-to-date recreational sites, established business parks and commercial developments comprise the Village’s attractive landscape. It’s no wonder more and more families and corporations are looking to Glendale Heights.
