Glenview Chamber

Having a heart for what matters, the Glenview Chamber of Commerce is making plans to add a charity benefit to its busy schedule of activities for the community. The “Heart of Glenview Festival” will combine good food, good company and good fun for the good of local charitable organizations.

The first annual Heart of Glenview will be held on Monday, February 4, 2008 at the Wyndham Glenview Suites. Based on the “taste of the town” concept, local restaurants will provide appetizer-size portions of their house specialties. The Wyndham Glenview Suites, located at 1400 Milwaukee Ave., has donated space for the festivities, which will include a cash bar, and a live and silent auction.

The Heart of Glenview is the brainstorm of Dr. Chris Krueger, a local dentist and the Chamber’s 2007 Chairman of the Board of Directors. Based on a valentine’s theme, it will bring together local businesses and organizations, local schools and local residents to provide additional support for service-based organizations.

Glenview schoolchildren will participate in contests through their schools to design the front and back of 12 large hearts, which will be displayed throughout the village. The festive hearts will be sponsored by local companies, and will be among the many items offered during the auction.

Although the event is nearly a year away, plans are well underway to make this a hearty success. The Chamber is looking for participation by several dozen restaurants, and for the donation of goods and services for the live and silent auctions.

“We also want as many people as possible to participate — there are plenty of ways to get involved,” says Chamber President Kathleen Miles. Contact the Chamber at 847-724-0900 to offer your help.

True to its founding mission of fostering community goodwill and encouraging trade, the Glenview Chamber of Commerce hosts a number of other events for residents in the area.

Street Sale

For more than 30 years, the annual Glenview Summer Festival aka Street Sale has been the main event of the summer with entertainment, vendors and delicious food. Held on the last Saturday in June, this annual event attracts more than 20,000 people who enjoy the many amenities that Glenview has to offer.

Art lovers look forward to the last weekend in July each year, as the Chamber and the Glenview Art League team up to co-sponsor a juried art show at Lyons School.

The businesses of Glenview, through the Chamber, thank community members for their support with an annual Holiday in the Park & Parade on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Hay rides, carolers, hot chocolate and cookies are provided free of charge, a great way to thank the residents and visitors who patronize Glenview businesses all year.
