Tourism

Hyde Park showed the world it could handle the crowds deftly when it hosted the World’s Columbia Exposition in 1893. Since then, a large university and one of the world’s most visited museums have been added to the neighborhood’s landscape, and Hyde Park hospitality standards have only reached higher.

Hyde Park is an outstanding neighborhood for walking—visitors find that streets are well marked and navigable. Lodging accommodations are just as visitor-friendly, with options ranging from chain hotels and motels to unique bed-and-breakfasts. The charm of the city is wrapped in a smaller, more easily palatable package. Lured by the dining, shopping, cultural attractions and lakeshore, visitors keep coming back.
