The Museum of Science and Industry is just one of 10 museums and galleries located in Hyde Park. Residents take equal pride in the DuSable Museum of African American History, the David and Alfred Smart Museum of Art, The Renaissance Society and Museum and the Oriental Institute on the University of Chicago campus.

The Hyde Park Art Center brings art to the public level, inviting participants to try their own hand at pottery, painting and photography in addition to the artist exhibitions.

Sounds of international chamber and classical music float from the University of Chicago’s South Woodlawn address as well.

As one of the areas to survive the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 and once Frank Lloyd Wright’s stomping grounds, Hyde Park is an important ground for architectural styles as well. Rockefeller Memorial Chapel and the Robie House’s Prairie-style lines are always on enthusiasts’ must-see lists.
