The Aurora-based Rush-Copley Medical Center is a cutting-edge healthcare resource in the area featuring the county’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Additionally, its Diabetes Education Center is well-regarded by the American Diabetes Association and its joint replacement program for hip and knee has recently earned certification.

Provena Health is a major healthcare provider in the county, offering two well-established hospital campuses. Provena Mercy Medical Center, located in Aurora, is a 356-bed hospital highlighted by a highly-rated Cardiac Surgery program, a Certified Stroke Center, the unique Cardiovascular Institute, the area’s first Diabetic Wellness Center and a modern Outpatient and Surgery Center. It has earned recognition as a Blue Distinction® Center for Cardiac Care and is an accredited Chest Pain Center.

The health system operates Provena Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin as well. The hospital is well-known for its cardiac services. The hospital’s state-of-the-art Heart and Vascular Institute features the region’s sole hybrid cath lab, as well as the latest in diagnostic and interventional catheterizations, an electrophysiology laboratory, cardiac rehabilitation and cardiac diagnostics. Other notable centers include the Level II Trauma Center and Emergency Department and the Bob & Edna Meadows Regional Cancer Care Center.

Elgin also hosts Sherman Hospital, which recently opened its brand new replacement hospital in mid-December 2009. The 255-bed, 645,000-square-foot, all private patient room medical center is the newest hospital to hit Kane County. Among its many highlights are the modern Emergency Department, the new Birthing Center, the Heart and Vascular Center and the adjacent Cancer Care Center, along with a beautiful atrium and the abutting 15-acre geothermal lake, an energy-efficient body of water that heats and cools the hospital.

Most of these hospital campuses also operate physician offices, immediate care centers, health and wellness centers, senior care communities and various other off-site facilities throughout the communities of Kane County. In addition to these sites, numerous regional hospitals in the closely surrounding area provide exceptional care to patients in Kane County.
