Supporting the health and wellness of Lincoln-Way and its closely surrounding communities are an array of amenities — from fitness centers and nutritionists to a variety of medical practices and hospitals.

For the health-conscious, area residents can find several facilities that offer clients personal training for individuals and groups, varied exercise classes — including yoga, Pilates, kickboxing and cycling — and a host of workout equipment, among other features. Several fitness centers in the immediate area will work with those just getting started in the fitness routine, as well as those looking to maintain and progress in fitness levels. Lincoln-Way is also the site of a handful of general nutrition stores.


A wealth of physicians, specializing in a multitude of medical fields, can be found here, with services ranging from eye care, pediatrics, family medicine and dermatology to physical therapy and rehabilitation, obstetrics and women’s health and bone and joint surgery. In addition, more than a dozen hospitals and medical facilities are located in and near the Lincoln-Way communities.

Silver Cross Hospital, situated nearby in Joliet, serves this Chicago region from its 304-bed acute care hospital, staffed by 400 physicians, 1,600 employees and 500 volunteers.

What’s more, New Lenox is the site of a Silver Cross Professional Building, which houses the Silver Cross Physical Rehabilitation and Performance Center, the Silver Cross MedWorks Occupational Health Program, mammography and X-ray services and family practice, ophthalmology, podiatry and gynecology physicians.

The 452-bed Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet is equipped with the St. Joseph Heart Center, the Sister Theresa Cancer Center, a Level II Emergency/Trauma Center, a neonatal ICU, a pediatrics ICU, the Sleep Disorders Clinic, the Retina Center and a multitude of services including rehabilitation and mental health.

The hospital’s partnership with the University of Illinois at Chicago has made it the only provider of neurosurgical services in the Will-Grundy counties area.


With two campuses located in Chicago Heights and Olympia Fields, St. James Hospital and Health Centers is a comprehensive network offering medical services across a wide spectrum. Major services offered at the Chicago Heights campus include cardiology, women’s health, orthopedics, emergency services, rehabilitation, pain management and the Center for Diabetes, while the Olympia Fields facility specializes in cardiovascular health, oncology and radiation therapy, women’s health, behavioral health and offers a Level I Trauma Center.

And for the pets of the family, medical, health and grooming services can be found through a score of animal-friendly stores and clinics.
