Parks and Recreation

Activities for Everyone

The City of Chicago offers a vast expanse of recreational opportunities, and the Southwest side offers a local cross-section of parks and facilities that cater to all ages and interests. From organized athletics, workout facilities or relaxation and leisure, the Southwest side enjoys access to swimming pools, jogging trails, ice rinks, baseball fields, golf courses and more.

West Lawn Park features an ice rink as well as batting cages, and Marquette Park, one of Chicago’s largest public parks, has a nine-hole golf course and driving range. Hale Park, adjacent to Hale Elementary School, offers a huge outdoor pool and a fieldhouse.

A new addition to Clearing is UBAM Park, located at 62nd and Central Avenue. UBAM Park offers a relaxing escape, with a brick path winding along a verdant path. The park is a great example of the revitalization efforts in the area, and benefits the community in all respects.

Chicago is also home to all levels of sports teams. Neighboring Bridgeview is the home of Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire. The new stadium at 71st and Harlem accommodates 20,000 fans, with two grandstands and seats situated close to the playing field. Not only does the addition bring even more fun to the area, but jobs, revenue and a strong community organization.
