Business & Industry

Moline has long been a regional center for business and economic activity in the Midwest. The city is the world headquarters of multinational corporation John Deere & Company. It is also the North American headquarters for global corporation KONE. Other major employers in the Quad Cities area include MidAmerican Energy Company, ALCOA, Genesis Health System, Tyson Fresh Meats, Trinity Regional Health System, 3M, and the Rock Island Arsenal U.S. Army Installation. Moline’s retail base, located along the John Deere Road corridor, features national retailers that help position the city as the primary retail center on the Illinois side.

RiverTech, adjacent to the planned Western Illinois University riverfront campus, will be home to nimble young technology-related enterprises. RiverTech includes FlexTech, a multipurpose space for high-tech companies to grow and thrive, and e3, which is retail and office space that will provide support services for the campus and students as well as residential apartments.

The Valley View Village development will sit on 130 acres between 60th and 70th streets. Included in the proposed development is retail space, restaurants, banks, gas stations and a drug store. A pedestrian-friendly complex will combine the retail, restaurant and residential components. Also included is a 384-unit apartment complex currently under construction.

The West Gateway Development will bring new life to Moline’s Floreciente neighborhood and the western end of downtown. A new health clinic, retail space and new bus stops are planned as part of this development.

The new KONE Center Tower will complete Phase III of Bass Street Landing, Moline’s mixed-use development along the riverfront. The proposed 18- to 20-story tower will feature 10 stories of office space and will serve as the new home to KONE’s U.S. Operations Center.
