Education

One of Mundelein’s strongest assets is the availability of high quality education at schools throughout the community. Mundelein High School is a recognized Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and has been named one of America’s best schools by Redbook magazine. Carmel Catholic High School is a four-time Blue Ribbon School award winner and has been named one of the Top 50 Catholic Secondary Schools in the country by the Catholic High School Honor Roll.

Museums such as the Fort Hill Heritage Museum and Lake County Discovery Museum offer a variety of programs and events for adults, families and school groups that educate and entertain. The Fremont and Cook Memorial Library Districts each offer a wide assortment of distinct adult and youth programs to the residents of Mundelein. The Feehan Memorial Library, located on the campus of the University of St. Mary of the Lake, offers specialized research opportunities.

The College of Lake County is the area’s comprehensive community college offering a wide range of academic program choices to meet a variety of educational needs. With two conveniently located campuses, CLC offers programs to prepare students for transfer or career entry, GED, adult education, personal or career development, or specialized services for businesses.

Undergraduate and graduate degrees are available through the University Center of Lake County, a unique concept that provides courses from 19 top Illinois universities on two nearby campuses. The University Center offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs for continuing and returning students.
