New Lenox Arts and Entertainment

New Lenox is home to the acclaimed Curtain Call Community Theatre, a group that has been a part of the city for over a decade.

Growing immensely since its beginnings, the theatre produces several shows each year and is comprised of a teen ensemble that appears at a number of events throughout the community. Working with some of New Lenox’s finest dining establishments, Curtain Call has also brought an enjoyable dinner theater to the area. The theatre has put on a number of diverse productions, most recently Beauty and the Beast, Smokey Joe’s Café, Guys & Dolls and Peter Pan.

The nearby communities of Chicago Heights and Park Forest also provide venues for entertainment. The Drama Group, one of the nation’s oldest ongoing theater groups, is located in Chicago Heights and boasts such productions as The Full Monty and Once Upon a Mattress. Situated under 30 minutes from New Lenox is the Illinois Theatre Center in Park Forest. Hailing as the first equity professional theatre in the area, ITC provides patrons everything from classical shows to modern works. The 2007-2008 season includes the productions of The Lady from Havana, Triumph of Love, Suddenly Last Summer and See What I Wanna See.

Additional entertainment locations include the Center for Performing Arts at Governor’s State University in University Park and the popular First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre, formerly the Tweeter Center, in Tinley Park.
