Shoppers from all over the Chicagoland area come to take advantage of the more than 1,200 eclectic merchants located in Oak Lawn. From big box department stores and large shopping complexes to locally-owned boutiques and mini-malls, Oak Lawn has it all. Lining the walls of area stores are gift items, apparel, hardware, flowers, sporting equipment, homewares, accessories, health products…you name it, one of Oak Lawn’s merchants has it. Looking for a new car? No problem, as Oak Lawn is home to a host of automobile dealerships ready to give potential car buyers a great deal. While many of the community’s retailers have been a part of the business landscape for years, Oak Lawn is also home to a wealth of new ventures.

The 95th Street corridor hails as Oak Lawn’s main shopping district. Hundreds of stores and service- oriented businesses form this thriving retail sector; an area that extends between Pulaski Avenue to the east and past Ridgeland Avenue to the west. Cicero Avenue and 87th Street are also bursting with a selection of businesses. Though many of the Village’s businesses are concentrated in these areas, the community is spotted with shopping centers and free-standing businesses as well. Both street parking and public parking lots provided by the Village are available for drivers.

Finding the freshest in local foods is easy, as every summer brings about the popular Village of Oak Lawn Farmers’ Market. Located in the north parking lot of the Village Hall (9446 Raymond Avenue), the summertime market welcomes shoppers to peruse through an assortment of produce, including natural fruits and vegetables, plus cheeses, breads and pastries, spices, jellies and jams, meats, flowers, handmade items and more. The event, held every Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., stretches from the beginning of June through mid-October. Beyond the Farmers’ Market event, make sure to stop at the Shop Oak Lawn Sale and Business Showcase, sponsored by the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce in March, or participate in the annual Pet Parade in June. Enjoy some of the best sales in town while enjoying top entertainment and delicious food.
