The River Bend Growth Association

Over twenty years ago a group of local business and political leaders in the Alton/Wood River area recognized the need for a regional organization to promote the business interests of the communities. They formed an organization which has grown and expanded and today is known as the River Bend Growth Association. The Growth Association acts both as a Chamber of Commerce and as an economic development agency for the communities surrounding Alton and Wood River collectively known as the River Bend.

As a Chamber of Commerce, its activities include the Growth Association’s Duck Race. Held at Raging Rivers Water Park in Grafton, the Duck Race marks the beginning of the summer swimming season each year. The Duck Race attracts hundreds of viewers who root for their favorite duck and collect prizes when they win.

As an economic developer, the Growth Association aids development and expansion of business opportunities wherever possible and works with the appropriate state and regional agencies to promote the area to the St. Louis Metropolitan area as well as nationally.

The Growth Association is located in Alden Hall on the north side of the campus of Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey. Its telephone number is 618-467-2280.
