Recreation

Staying active and maintaining natural outdoor spaces is important to Shorewood residents. The Village’s Parks and Recreation Department supplies exceptional year-round recreational programming for residents of all ages and abilities, including athletic leagues and camps, group fitness and dance classes and a long list of cultural, educational and enrichment offerings. Accompanying the programs are 15 municipal parks, the largest of which is the modern, 45-acre Four Seasons Park on Seil Road, east of the railroad tracks. Amenities featured at Village parks include picnic facilities, basketball and tennis courts, athletic fields, a Frisbee golf course, playground equipment, sled hill, trails and our active community garden.

Seasonal program guides detailing all of the many amentities and options available to residents are mailed directly to their door. To make participation easy and fun, the Village even offers online program registration.

To honor those that have served this great country, the Village of Shorewood has built a Veteran’s Memorial at the entrance to the new Shorewood Towne Center. Directly adjacent to the Memorial is the Towne Center Park, complete with an amphitheater, playground equipment and splash pad.

In addition to these outstanding recreational resources, Shorewood is home to a number of organized sports leagues, is within 10 miles of three public golf courses and is served by the nearby Galowich Family YMCA. The Y, located just outside of Shorewood in neighboring Joliet, is a fantastic resource for community members, offering a well-equipped recreation facility and a calendar year full of programs and events.
