Residential Living

In its earliest days, Shorewood – then known as Troy – was a small fishing and resort community along the DuPage River. With a need for infrastructure maintenance, general management and regulation, the residents of Troy decided to incorporate as a village in November 1957, choosing the name Shorewood to avoid conflict with another Troy, IL. The Village of 358 quickly began its transition into a progressive southwest suburb and is now home to over 15,000 residents and growing.
