Health Care

In addition to a large number of health care professionals at all levels of health and dental care, Skokie residents have access to a variety of medical specialists as well as primary, tertiary, outpatient and convenient care.

In the heart of Skokie is NorthShore University HealthSystem Skokie Hospital, a full-service health care provider offering patients access to a vast network of resources. The hospital is in the midst of a phased, multi-year $300 million project to expand clinical services, enhance and improve patient care and upgrade technology. Expected to be completed in 2017, the project includes:

— A new Ambulatory Care Center (ACC), which opened in January 2013, expands access to clinical services and increases the complement of physicians on campus.

— Relocation of several outpatient services to the new ACC for ease of patient access.

— Conversion to all private patient rooms.

— Reconfiguration of departments on the first floor to improve patient flow.

— Enhancements to the state-of-the-art surgical pavilion.

— Nation’s most advanced electronic medical records system.
