Welcome from the Mayor

Welcome to the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce Lifestyle & Business Directory.

This is the 100th Anniversary Chamber of Commerce issue and it’s a special one. The Chamber and City have been partners the past 100 years working together to make sure retailers and all businesses are supported and promoted in exchange for them being Sycamore’s lifeblood of jobs, revenue, and goods and services.

This guide will inform people about Sycamore and all the many amenities offered in our community. Those who take time to investigate Sycamore will find a warm vibrant city with excellent business, vocational, educational, recreational and worship opportunities. We champion sustained economic vitality and mutually beneficial growth, and we think you will appreciate those efforts.

Everyone is welcome to walk the streets of our downtown which includes the Carnegie Foundation funded Sycamore Public Library, a bakery with homemade breads, movie theater, gift shops, great dining venues and the historic Jane Fargo Hotel. City of Sycamore community information is available on the newly improved website Sycamore is rich in history with strong ties to agriculture and a small town feel, both of which continue to be nurtured with effective preservation, conservation, and restoration of the central business district and neighborhoods throughout the city.

Two museums focused on natural history and historical artifacts attest to the value the community maintains in remaining linked with the world and local history. Some businesses are generational in ownership and management, and other newer enterprises have been successful in finding their market niche in Sycamore. Many local industries are multinational in production and sales. An improving retail and business economy bodes well for the future. We value businesses and industries that have chosen Sycamore where they invest jobs, goods and services, taxes and generous corporate charitable support of community to foster good for all.

We join over 500 Chamber members who look forward to another 100 years of blessings of prosperity and meaningful commerce to benefit our entire community.
