PromptMed Urgent Care

PromptMed Urgent Care is an accredited and independently operated neighborhood walk-in medical clinic providing urgent care and occupational health services to adults, children and employers in the surrounding Waukegan area. PromptMed delivers high-quality, fast and affordable care in a convenient setting for those seeking immediate medical treatment for sudden non-life-threatening illness and injury.

Most recently, PromptMed Urgent Care became the first urgent care center in the state of Illinois to receive accreditation from the Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA), the national accreditation and certification program for the urgent care industry. UCAOA recognized PromptMed Urgent Care based on the company meeting key operational and clinical care quality standards.

The company, started by Hunter Davis and Dr. John Jurica, opened its first clinic in December 2014 at 724 N. Green Bay Rd., at the corner of Grand Avenue in the former Blockbuster Video location. The partners were immediately attracted to the population density of Waukegan, the largest city in Lake County, combined with the attractive demographics and growing need to offer quality urgent care services to a relatively underserved area.

With the recent implementation of the Affordable Care Act and growing employment in the region, the PromptMed Urgent Care team sees significant future growth opportunities to offer convenient and affordable health care services in Waukegan and the surrounding area.

Family Chiropractic & Sports Rehab

Family Chiropractic & Sports Rehab was founded by Waukegan native Dr. Michael J. Reed. With a lifelong interest in natural health, Dr. Reed holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and microbiology from Western Illinois University, and a second bachelor’s degree in life science, doctorate in chiropractic and master’s in sports medicine and rehab from Logan College Chiropractic.

Dr. Reed treats a variety of ailments and injuries, as well as wellness patients ranging from newborn babies to professional athletes.

Besides treating back and neck pain, Dr. Reed uses spinal decompression, manipulation, muscle myofascial release, and state-of-the-art physiotherapy modalities to treat conditions such as herniated discs, rib pain, pinched nerves, carpal tunnel syndrome, rotator cuff injuries, shoulder tendonitis, tennis elbow, arch and foot pain and plantar fasciitis.

Women can also benefit from visits to a chiropractor during pregnancy to relieve stress on their body from the weight of the baby. Regular visits to a chiropractor during pregnancy can reduce the incidence of pain in the lower back and between the shoulder blades, and minimize or eliminate headaches and nausea.

Other conditions treated include allergies, asthma, digestive disorders, headaches, osteoarthritis, sciatica and sprains and strains.

The clinic also sees patients with accident-, sports- and work-related injuries.
