The Village of Westmont is committed to creating a safe, well-organized place to live, work and raise a family. Westmont takes great pride in providing an efficient local government and excellent public services.

The village is an incorporated municipality with a mayor and six trustees, who appoint a full-time manager to supervise the operation of village departments. The board approves the annual budget, adopts ordinances, and holds monthly meetings on the first and third Monday of each month.

Westmont has a 911 emergency telephone system, and is one of the few communities in the state to have both its police and fire departments nationally accredited.

The Westmont Police Department employs 44 sworn officers and 16 civilian personnel. It provides 24-hour patrols and works closely with county, state and federal agencies. Officers also advise and educate on how to protect property and promote safety.

The Westmont Fire Department has over 70 full-time and part-time members who staff two fire stations 24-four hours a day. With updated equipment and capabilities, the department has earned accreditation as having achieved the highest standards for emergency readiness.

In 2007, two unique programs were introduced. “Safe and Secure Westmont” is an effort to ensure that owners of multi-family housing complexes maintain their property in compliance with village codes. “Alive at 25” is designed to educate young drivers on proper decision-making and responsible behavior behind the wheel. Such community efforts are just two examples of pro-active leadership at work in Westmont to provide the best municipal services available.
