Welcome to Angola

Welcome to Angola

As the Steuben County seat, Angola is a recreation wonderland. Nestled in the northeastern corner of Indiana, just south of the Michigan border, Angola has more than 100 lakes; unpolluted woods and rolling hills that create beautiful nature areas in and around town, like Pokagon State Park. Residents and visitors are in great proximity to good schools, growing commercial centers and a plethora of services for businesses and families, Angola is an attractive area, drawing in major manufacturers, tourists and a growing residential population turning it into something of a boomtown. The current population of Angola is 8,610. While the population isn’t booming as big as before, Angola is surrounded by unincorporated villages and small towns ranging in population from less than 100 to 1,500. These small towns and villages are just a short drive, sit serenely on the shores of a lake and offer vibrant downtowns that are alive with shopping and dining opportunities. The Angola area is a place that residents and visitors alike can experience every season. Dozens of nature preserves invite warm-weather exploration, scores of lakes provide water enjoyment, and when winter comes, a variety of trails and toboggan runs appeal to cross-country skiers, snowmobiles and downhill racers. Angola and surrounding towns welcome new residents and industry as more and more people discover the wonders of Steuben County. The Angola area offers the latest technologies and services while maintaining the area’s distinctive rural character.
