graphicCrawfordsville residents elect a mayor and seven councilpersons to oversee local government needs. The Crawfordsville Police Department has 30 sworn officers (including 23 uniformed police and five detectives) who serve in an 8.5 square mile area. The police department also takes responsibilty for the dispatch center, which handles all emergency responders in Montgomery County. The mayor appoints the chief, assistant chief and three civilian police commissioners.
