Access to superior healthcare services is a priority in DeKalb County. Residents are fortunate to be served by numerous services and community programs that support the health and well-being of the area.

DeKalb Memorial Hospital, an award-winning, not-for-profit, acute care medical center, is a leader in the area’s healthcare community. DeKalb Memorial offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services in its modern facilities. The hospital unveiled a 40,000-square-foot Surgical Center in May of 2008 and is now in the midst of another major project – the addition of a new emergency department, imaging and laboratory departments and a critical care unit. The $8.7 million project will span 44,000 square feet and is slated for completion by the end of 2011. For more detailed information, visit www.dekalbmemorial.com.

DeKalb County residents also have access to Cameron Memorial Community Hospital (CMCH), located just north of the county in Angola. This not-for-profit community hospital is on the grow too, recently announcing a $42 million expansion project, which will include 110,470 square feet of new space and 15,930 square feet of renovated space. The campus’s new structures will be finished in the fall of 2012, while renovation of the existing space will be completed by fall of 2013. Learn more at www.cameronmch.com.

The area is well-served by a collection of further health resources as well. DeKalb County and its closely surrounding area offers many senior-centered facilities, including The Laurels of DeKalb, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center offering short-term, extended stay, long-term, memory care, respite care, palliative care and hospice services, and the Betz Senior Living Campus, a modern community supplying both short-term and long-term skilled and intermediate care, among others. County residents also have access to a wide range of physician groups, specialty clinics and other medical services.
