Mid-America Commerce Park
In western White County, the Mid-America Commerce Park has excellent access to transportation infrastructure. The new Commerce Park is located halfway between Chicago and Indianapolis.

In 2014, White County partnered with Garmong Construction Services and Garmong Development Company, LLC, an Indiana-based company, to provide project financing and single source design-building delivery of a 60,000-square-foot industrial shell building, expandable to 240,000 square feet.

The shell building is being constructed at the intersection of U.S. Highway 24 and CR 1200, approximately one mile east of I-65. The new facility will be constructed of pre-cast concrete to a clear height of 32 feet.

A Leader in Agriculture
Annually, White County ranks among Indiana’s top producers in corn, popcorn, soybeans and hogs. Several White County businesses are connected with the strong agriculture presence in the county.

In Monon, Wabash Valley Farms manufactures the famous, patented stovetop Whirley Pop Popcorn Popper featured in America’s premier stores. ConAgra is located in Brookston and provides 95 percent of the popcorn for Orville Redenbacher and Act II Microwave Popcorn bags nationwide. White County Egg Farm (Rose Acres), a leader in egg production, is located in Monon. Grow Direct in downtown Monticello sells seed corn directly to farmers.

Global Harvest Foods Ltd. purchased Reynolds’ manufacturing plant of Morning Song Wild Bird Seed from Scott’s Miracle-Gro Company. Global Harvest, a Seattle-based company, has a national footprint in this industry.

White County has several Co-Alliance businesses providing Agronomy, Power Fuel, Grain Marketing, and Feed Solutions.

A Splash of Green
White County, Indiana is a recognized leader in the renewable energy field.

In the western part of the county, revolving wind turbines line the rural landscape.

Meadow Lake Wind Farm, owned by Horizon Wind Energy/EDP Renewables, is a planned five-phase commercial wind farm with a potential capacity of 600 MW.

The electricity generated by Meadow Lake Wind Farm is sold on the regional wholesale market. The wind farm helps provide energy security to the United States by diversifying the electricity generation portfolio.

Carroll White REMC, along with Wabash Valley Power and Waste Management, made a commitment to support a valuable renewable energy source utilizing landfill gas at Liberty Landfill near Buffalo. Green Power is a biomass gas created when materials decay in landfills. Wabash Valley Power owns two generating plants at this site providing 6.9 megawatts of Green Power.

White County has two anaerobic digesters. Bio Town® Ag’s Energy Center is located north of Reynolds. Digesters at the facility utilize manure generated from Bio Town Ag’s cattle feedlot and swine facility, along with other organic products, to generate methane gas. The gas is then used to power internal combustion engines to generate three megawatts of electricity per hour, which supports the BioTown® USA initiative of developing a community that is self-sustainable. The electricity is placed on the grid by Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) and consumed locally.

In the eastern part of White County, Waste No Energy, LLC, a company owned by RAKR Farms, developed a multi-million dollar anaerobic digester facility designed to renew energy and fuel the economy. In addition to producing clean, renewable energy that is purchased by NIPSCO, the facility’s digester converts a mix of manure and food waste to produce organic liquid fertilizer.
