Ankeny offers many choices when it comes to education. As of 2016, there are 10 public elementary schools, two buildings housing sixth and seventh graders, as well as two buildings for eighth and ninth graders, and two 10th through 12th-grade high schools. The district currently has 16 school buildings, using a K-5, 6–7, 8–9, 10–12 grade level structure in two complete "feeder systems", North and South. Ankeny is also no stranger to higher education. Des Moines Area Community College, with an enrollment of nearly 60,000 in college credit or business training classes, has a 304 acre campus in Ankeny. DMACC offers two-year degrees, transferable college credit and continuing education. Also in Ankeny is Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary, which offers a faith-based education that trains the Christian teachers, pastors and musicians of the future. Simpson College and Upper Iowa University offer centers in Ankeny. Iowa School of Beauty opened a location in Ankeny. The city is also in close proximity to Iowa State University.
