Government

Bettendorf has a mayor and seven-member city council, who serve staggered four-year terms. They form the law-making, policy-forming body, and are responsible for choosing a city administrator, whose charge is to manage the administrative functions of the city covernment.

Government

Local government has worked closely and well with its education and business communities to foster a positive performance-based environment. Municipal departments work hard to ensure that taxpayers get exceptional value for their investment. That value is seen clearly in the local fire and police departments, its exceptional park system, and an aggressive and well-trained public works department.

Municipal services reflect the desires of the community. Nowhere is this more evident than at The Learning Campus, which is comprised of the Bettendorf Public Library and Information Center, and the Bettendorf Family Museum of Arts and Science. These startling facilities, built with an $8.3 million bond issue in 1997, have become the center of community activities. They provide research environments, community meeting spaces, scientific and artistic classes for children and top-flight exhibits from around the world. These facilities are located at 2900 and 2950 Learning Campus Drive, just off of 18th Street and north of Spruce Hills Drive.
