Shopping in Davenport Iowa

The Quad Cities is a magnet for shoppers in its varied historical districts, downtown centers, malls and quaint shops. This in-demand retail destination attracts customers from a multi-county region throughout the year.

The area is home to two super regional malls; NorthPark Mall in Davenport and SouthPark Mall in Moline. The 170-store NorthPark Mall is eastern Iowa’s main retail destination, with more than six million shopper visits annually. The mall was recently renovated and expanded and today houses major retailers such as Dillard’s, JC Penney, Sears, Von Maur and Younkers, along with a number of specialty retailers including Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle Outfitters, Barnes & Noble, Bath & Body Works and Coldwater Creek. SouthPark Mall, anchored by the same major retailers, brings in 8.5 million shoppers each year and boasts Old Navy, The Children’s Place and Waldenbooks, along with the locally popular Whitey’s Ice Cream.

The charming village of East Davenport is encompassed in a historical setting, offering a unique selection of dining establishments, specialty shops, art galleries, spas and studios. Dating back to the 1850s, the village boasts some 40 merchants, offering antiques, unusual gifts, jewelry wine and other specialties.

District in Rock Island

The District in Rock Island is a popular site for those in search of a vibrant mix of unusual shops and art galleries, eateries and brew pubs, and a lively nightlife. Downtown Moline is fast becoming a bustling center of eclectic shops and restaurants, and boasts a spirited nightlife and several top hotels. The John Deere Commons attracts thousands of visitors each year to this restored historic area. Shoppers can find everything from John Deere merchandise to Quad-City-made Isabel Bloom sculptures here.

Additional shopping centers not to be missed include the 22,000 square foot Antique American Mall in Davenport and Cumberland Square Shopping Center and Duck Creek Plaza, both located in Bettendorf. For serious shoppers, it’s a short three-hour day trip to Chicago’s suburban outlet malls and Magnificent Mile.

From May through October, people journey to the seasonal farmers’ markets located throughout the Quad Cities. Local vendors set up shop selling fresh vegetables, fruits, homemade jams, flowers, baked goods and crafts. Davenport hosts the largest market every Wednesday and Saturday on the downtown waterfront.
