Economic Development

The DeWitt Chamber & Development Company (DCDC) is the community’s organization that spearheads economic development and business growth. The DCDC partners with the City of DeWitt and other local, county and state organizations to invite businesses to start, expand or relocate their businesses in DeWitt.

DeWitt boasts a strong and diversified base of employers, featuring a blend of over 300 unique small businesses and large international companies. Retail shops, restaurants, and service providers can be found throughout the community with a concentration in the Downtown District and the 11th Street Corridor.

Manufacturing is DeWitt’s largest industry sector. Fifteen manufacturing companies that employ nearly 1,000 individuals are located in or around Crossroads Business Park, the city’s industrial park on the south edge of town, and the surrounding area. Guardian DeWitt, part of Guardian Industries Corp., a global glass manufacturer, is DeWitt’s largest employer shipping almost 10,000 truck loads of float glass products every year.

Agriculture also has a substantial impact on our local economy. Within Clinton County, 192,500 (NASS 2014) acres of land are planted each year to produce crops like corn, soybeans, hay, and other goods. These crops are sold to a diverse, and in some cases, global marketplace that includes: River terminals which receive grain destined for export channels, large processors (such as ADM in nearby Clinton) which make a diverse portfolio of products that are sold globally, and local feed mills. These local feed mills support a livestock industry within our county that includes both cattle and hog feeders as well as dairy herds.

Our agriculture industry within the county is supported by strong local advocacy groups such as County Farm Bureau, County Pork Producers, County Cattleman Association, and a multi County Dairy Association. Our county fair, held annually in DeWitt in July, is a strong vibrant display of many of these groups, industries, and Clinton County’s long standing agriculture heritage.

DeWitt is the place to grow your business, and the DCDC is here to help you. For more information pertaining to business development, visit or call (563) 659-8500.
