DeWitt has an extensive list of recreational opportunities. DeWitt’s Parks & Recreation Department supplies a wide range of programs for children and adults, as well as offering many parks and outdoor activities. DeWitt takes great pride in the over half dozen well-maintained parks. Enjoy vast amenities such as the 18-hole disc golf course, walk and bike trails, mountain bike trails, sports fields, a dog park, Skate Park, basketball courts and plenty of outdoor green space.
Aquatic Center
The DeWitt Aquatic Center is the perfect place for a long summer day! You can hear splashing at the Aquatic Center from Memorial Day through Labor Day. This $2.6 million facility features a zero depth entry, toddler play area, lily pad water walk and water slides. Open family swimming is welcome and structured lessons and water aerobics classes are available. Lifeguards are present and concessions are provided whenever the pool is open. Arrangements can be made for private pool parties.
DeWitt Dog Park
Located within Westbrook Park, the DeWitt Dog Park opened its gates in 2012 to many wagging tails. Open year-round, this green area provides two acres of fenced in land for dogs to run free. There are designated areas for both large and small dogs along with benches for owners to relax.
Disc Golf
This challenging and fun 18-hole course covers a variety of terrain in Westbrook Park, included a wooded area, waterways, open trail and hills. There are a variety of long and short holes throughout the course and the park’s natural surroundings maximize the play experience.
Golf Course
Springbrook Country Club is a private 18-hole country club with a rich history in DeWitt that dates back to 1921. Springbrook is also the home of the brand new 21 Chop House restaurant, which is open to the public. You won’t feel like you’re sitting right in the middle of DeWitt, when you take in the beautiful views from inside the restaurant or on the large deck. In addition to the golf course and 21 Chop House, Springbrook always has a full calendar of social activities.
Lincoln Park
This is the city’s premier park, and it is located in the heart of Dewitt’s downtown district! Amenities include a picnic shelter and picnic tables, a band shell, playground equipment and public restrooms. Named Lincoln Park in recognition of the adjacent old Lincoln Highway, the park is also home to the Hausbarn Museum, the DeWitt Chamber & Development Company and the DeWitt Community Center. Lincoln Park is the host of many annual community events, such as, DeWitt’s Autumn Fest, the John Bloom Art Festival and the Summer Movies in the park.
Mountain Bike Trail
Located in Westbrook Park, this single track mountain bike trail spans six miles. While mountain biking is the trail’s primary purpose, visitors are welcome to hike and run on the trail and take in the serene atmosphere of the park.
Paul Skeffington Memorial Trail
This well-maintained trail is 10 feet wide and covers over three miles. The paved trail is ideal for walking, running and riding bikes. Much of the trail is through scenic wooded areas and flows into Westbrook Park. The trail is also a significant part of the ever-popular two-mile and five-mile Paul Skeffington Memorial Race.
Westbrook Park
Out of the half dozen parks in DeWitt, Westbrook Park is the largest at 100 acres in size. In addition to the disc golf course, Paul Skeffington Trail, mountain bike trail and dog park, visitors can enjoy picnic shelters, four baseball/softball diamonds, two playground equipment areas and horseshoe courts.
