The mission of the North Scott Community School District is to produce graduates with the capacity to be successful in a changing world. The district achieves its mission by incorporating abundant resources and offering a broad-based curriculum in a respectful, safe environment.
The North Scott School District consists of schools located in five communities. The district's administration center, the high school, the junior high and one elementary school are located in Eldridge. Elementary schools are also located in Donahue, Long Grove, Park View and Princeton.
The North Scott Community School District is a recognized leader in educational excellence. A full-time curriculum director helps coordinate the K-12 curriculum. Each school has modern computer labs, and the high school offers a wide selection of advanced placement and honors courses. Students, teachers and administrators continually receive state and national honors. Scores on standard achievement tests are consistently well above average. North Scott students also excel in extra-curricular activities, from speech and drama to music to athletics.
Additional schools in the area include Heritage Christian School (Park View), Eldridge Preschool (Eldridge) and Share & Care Christian Preschool (Park View).
Several colleges in the Quad City area offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as certification programs in assorted fields.
St. Ambrose University has a diverse range of academic degrees and programs for undergraduate and graduate students. Augustana University is a private college of the liberal arts and sciences, and is located on 115 wooded acres overlooking the Mississippi River in Rock Island, Illinois. Student-faculty ratio is 13-to-one; average class size is fewer than 20 students.
Eastern Iowa Community College District offers certification programs in a wide variety of fields — including business, health, service, manufacturing, and multimedia technology. Palmer College offers a five-year doctor of chiropractic degree; bachelors and masters of science degrees; an associate of science in chiropractic technology degree; and healthcare certificate programs.
Scott County Library
The Scott County Library System is comprised of one main library and branches across the county. Each library in the system is a full-service library with an on-line catalog, rotating material collections, programming, reference and public service back-up from the headquarters in Eldridge.
The Scott County Bookmobile brings books to thousands of rural Scott County residents. The bookmobile operates three days a week, and rotates its six routes on a bi-weekly schedule.
