Mills County borders the Missouri River and is just south of the Council Bluffs/Omaha metro area. Enhanced by the picturesque Loess Hills and rolling farmland, arterial access exists on U.S. 34 and Interstate 29 with connection to Interstate 80. The area’s Native American heritage is visible along the Scenic Byway or on the 750 miles of roads leading to many parks, recreational attractions and rich farmlands.
Eight towns make up Mills County: Glenwood (the county seat), Malvern, Pacific Junction, Emerson, Silver City, Hastings, Henderson and Mineola.
The two largest cities, Glenwood and Malvern, are nestled along the Loess Hills, in the center of the county, encircled by rural farming and an abundance of new housing developments. Mills County is rapidly growing as a commercial hub with rail service provided by Burlington Northern, close proximity to Eppley Airfield and easy access to the Omaha/Council Bluffs metro areas.
