Mineola was founded in 1880 with the coming of the Wabash railroad. Originally, it was home to many people of German descent, with German the language spoken in almost every store. Now, Mineola is small community with a population of approximately 176. They are located on the Wabash Trace and greet many visitors biking and hiking on the trail. It is an unincorporated town and falls under Mills County Ordinances.
