Transportation

YOU CAN GET THERE FROM HERE!

Ideally located on Interstate 35, Mason City and Clear Lake are midway between Des Moins and Minneapolis. Mason City is bordered to the south by the Avenue of the Saints (US 18/IA 27), which links St. Paul to St. Louis.

In addition, Mason City is centrally located in the Midwest, within easy driving distance to major markets such as Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, and Minneapolis. The “North Iowa Corridor” is the hub of our centrally-located transportation network. Interstate 35 splits the region, the four-lane divided Avenue of the Saints (US 18/IA 27) borders Mason City to the south, and Interstates 80 and 90 are both close by.

The region is served by two Class I railroads, Union Pacific and Canadian Pacific, one short-line railroad, Iowa Traction, and the Manly Terminal rail intermodal.

The Mason City Municipal Airport offers daily commercial flights to and from Minneapolis and Chicago O’Hare, and weekday flights to St. Louis.
