Forefront Of Health
Spencer Hospital’s 500-plus employees are dedicated to bringing you high quality healthcare, delivered with a compassionate touch. The hospital’s 99-bed facility continues to evolve as it strives to meet the healthcare needs of northwest Iowans and southern Minnesotans. The hospital’s many programs are designed to fulfill a wide range of patient needs.
Adjoining the hospital, the Abben Cancer Center provides complete cancer treatment and care — including radiation therapy, chemotherapy and support services. For patients’ convenience, the hospital’s Warner Dialysis Center is located in Spencer and Spirit Lake.
To provide convenient access to medical care in the area, Spencer Hospital has two family practice clinics in the region — Milford Family Care and Sioux Rapids Family Care. Both clinics are managed by Avera Health.
The hospital’s most recent addition is its new Surgery Center, designed to provide state-of-the-art care to patients in a comfortable, private setting. Currently, the hospital is expanding its inpatient area to offer comfortable private rooms for patients. Plans are also underway for creating a new Intensive Care Unit, and upgrades to diagnostic and treatment equipment continue.
Spencer Hospital’ employees and medical staff are dedicated to providing the citizens of the region with high-tech, professional and compassionate care close to home.
Abben Cancer Center of Spencer Hospital
World-class cancer care is available at the Abben Cancer Center of Spencer Hospital. In the mid-1990s, the Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation spearheaded a fund-raising campaign to build and equip a state-of-the-art cancer treatment center. The community responded with enthusiasm and generosity. The Abben Cancer Center opened in August 1997, and has treated thousands of patients with care and compassion.
State-of-the-art technology is used in planning each individual’s course of treatment and in carrying out that plan. Abben strives to be a leader in providing technology such as IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy). Available at Abben Cancer Center since 2003, IMRT provides therapists with precision that spares healthy cells and greatly reduces side effects. The BAT (B-mode Acquisition and Targeting system) is another example of Abben’s commitment to technology that provides better outcomes for patients.
