Location Leads to Opportunity

Centrally located in southeastern Kansas, Chanute is within a two-hour drive of several major metropolitan areas – including Kansas City, Wichita, Topeka, Tulsa (Oklahoma) and Joplin, Missouri. Its location and access to major highways (US-69, US-75, K-39 and K-59) has made Chanute a convenient stopping place for travelers, and has provided residents and industry with expanded opportunities afforded by the proximity of major metropolitan areas.

Since the Santa Fe Railroad designated Chanute as its Southeast Kansas division point in late 1886, local business has greatly benefited from the opportunity to bid and negotiate rail transportation costs to locations throughout North America. Branch lines leave Chanute in three directions, making the city one of Kansas’ most viable shipping centers.

Chanute’s Martin Johnson Municipal Airport serves the requirements of mid-size corporate jets with a 4,255-foot runway and taxiway. The airport continually expands and updates its services and infrastructure to remain one of the state’s finest general aviation airports.

EagleMed, the first Type 1 licensed Air Ambulance in the state of Kansas, operates flights out of Chanute’s Martin Johnson Municipal Airport. EagleMed is a member of the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS), and is committed to safety and high standards in air medical transport.
