Comprehensive School District & Continuing Opportunities

Unified School District 413 serves Chanute and the surrounding area (a total area of 125-squares miles) by providing a quality education for students from pre-school through grade 12.

graphicThe district is comprised of an Early Learning Center (which serves kindergarten and pre-school age students), three elementary schools (serving grades one through five), one middle school (for grades six through eight) and a high school (grades nine through 12). An alternative high school program is available for non-traditional students that need alternatives for earning high school credits. USD #413 is a member of the ANW Special Education Cooperative, which provides services to students with special needs. The district enrollment is around 1850 students.

USD #413 provides an all-day kindergarten program in an effort to get students started on a road to success in school. A concerted effort to maintain small class sizes in the primary classrooms has been accomplished in nearly all classes.

USD #413 seeks to provide for the educational needs of all students, and this is reflected by the Alcott Elementary Charter School and the New Beginnings Academy alternative high school program. The school district has been successful in obtaining numerous grants, which are directed toward providing supplemental services to the students of USD #413. Extensive after-school opportunities have been provided using grant funds. The district understands the necessity of providing tools for learning, and is committed to providing current technology for use by students and staff. While USD #413 students generally score at or above the state and national averages in nearly all measures of academic success, the staff continually strives to improve the quality of education provided to students.
