Cowley Countys progressive business climate and skilled workforce have attracted a wide array of commercial residents, and our roots in manufacturing continue today. Cowley County is home to over 30 manufacturing facilities with products as varied as plastic coolers to cargo liners, aircraft engines to manufactured homes, steel drums to books, and elevators to circuit boards. A number of internationally known companies call Cowley County home, including General Electric's jet-engine overhaul facility and Rubbermaid Home Products. Much of the economic growth is concentrated around the three Industrial Parks of Cowley CountyStrother Field Airport/Industrial Park, Winfield Industrial Park and Goff Industrial Park in Arkansas City.
Both existing and new business residents enjoy the flourishing business climate and skilled labor force which Cowley County has to offer. An aggressive economic development strategy has been employed by the communities to attract new industrial businesses and enhance the success of our existing businesses through the help of the Cowley County Economic Development Agency. The various Chambers of Commerce and the Main Street Programs are also committed to the success of local businesses. Along with efforts to assist existing businesses and to attract new retail business to the area, the Chambers of Commerce and Main Street programs provide their members with many referrals.
The Internet has brought many changes to the way we live and work today. Cowley County has access to high-speed Internet service through DSL, Cable and various dial up services. Many web design and Internet based businesses have been created in Cowley County. Furthermore, many of our businesses and industries are utilizing e-commerce in addition to their traditional practices in order to maximize their business potential in the global marketplace.
