Energy continues to be a driving force in the world economy. Not only does it fuel our cars, our factories and our homes, but energy has become one of the major factors making up the political landscape of our country.
Lafayette has made a consistent effort to diversify its economy in the past decades and has had incredible success in doing so. However, the heart and soul of the city remains oil and gas exploration and production.
Lafayette is also home to many energy industry events, the largest of which is the Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exposition (LAGCOE). LAGCOE is one of the world’s pioneer oil and gas expositions and has been fueling global energy solutions for 60 years, since 1955. One of the largest oil and gas industry expositions in the United States, LAGCOE is held biennially in the very heart of America’s energy corridor: Lafayette.
Innovative engineering and entrepreneurial spirit throughout Acadiana produces efficient and effective solutions for the industry’s ever changing needs. The hard working professionals in Acadiana have real hands-on industry experience which increases industry productivity throughout the world. Just as the energy industry is constantly advancing to meet new demands and challenges, LAGCOE exhibits and technical sessions are designed to support bold, innovative approaches in the quest for energy. Executives from all over the world travel to LAGCOE to network at the CAJUNDOME Convention Center with more than 400 companies showcasing their products and services.
In 2013, LAGCOE welcomed 416 exhibiting companies from around the world and more than 17,000 attendees from 43 countries and 47 states. Energy industry employees are invited to attend LAGCOE 2015 October 27-29, 2015, for access to state-of-the-art equipment, service, and technologies as well as technical presentations from worldwide leaders in the onshore and offshore oil and gas exploration and production industry. With a waiting list for exhibit space, LAGCOE continues to be a highly sought after event for industry professionals.
Louisiana is the Energy State. Fifty percent of all of the gasoline and diesel that powers our country flows through and from Louisiana. Lafayette is the heartbeat of Louisiana’s energy economy. Not only are we home to great exploration and production companies, we supply the landmen, the tool-pushers, the survey equipment, the geologists, the legal minds, etc. If it has to do with serving the energy industry in the state of Louisiana, you can bet Lafayette is involved.
Lafayette has a bright future as the heart of the energy industry. Even as the push for renewables and solar energy grow stronger, America still depends on oil and gas to fuel its economy.
