At the heart of medical care in Acadiana, Lafayette continues to expand its advanced and specialized medical services with state-of-the-art facilities and procedures. The parish has a 911 emergency response system and is home to Acadian Ambulance Services Inc., the nation’s largest rural ambulance company offering ground and air paramedic services. For more than three decades, Acadian has provided advanced pre-hospital emergency medical care and disaster response to the metropolitan and rural areas of the community, and to the offshore facilities in the Gulf of Mexico.
