Location and Transportation

Biddeford-Saco is located along the Maine Turnpike (Interstate 95) between Portland, Maine, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. U.S. Route 1 and Maine Routes 5, 9,111 and 112 provide easy access to the rest of the state.

The public transit system provides daily service to and from Portland and local routes throughout Biddeford, Saco and Old Orchard Beach. The system also includes a special commuter transport to the Portland area.

The Biddeford Municipal Airport is a full-service facility. Portland International Jetport is only 15 miles north of the cities and Logan International Airport in Boston, MA, is 85 miles south.

The Amtrak train system makes a stop at Saco Island on its route from Boston to Portland. Several daily stops are scheduled. Travel by train makes the trip to and from Boston relatively easy for commuters, and a relaxing day trip for visitors, whether going to Boston or Portland.
