Location and Transportation

The land area of the town is comprised of residential, business, industrial, commercial and resource protection zones, open space, farmland, woodland and coastal areas totaling 7.5 square miles. It is home to a year round population of 8,500 people.

The town is located on the northeasternmost (D/E-3/4) section of York County on the southern Maine coast and is approximately 12 miles southwest of the city of Portland, Maine's largest city. Convenient access to Old Orchard Beach is provided by the U.S. Interstate route I-95 Connector, which originates at Exit 36 and 98, each of which originates at U.S. Route 1 in Saco, from the south and north respectively, to terminate at the town's center.
