contentsCaroline County MD Chamberads

The history and lore of Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglas and others can be experienced by retracing the Underground Railroad pathways in Caroline County. A self-guided driving tour called Finding Freedom provides a trip back into time to explore the many lesser known, but important sites. Freedom seekers found shelter and assistance in Caroline County as they traveled along the Underground Railroad to points north. Several museums and landmarks such as the Mason-Dixon Line, the Museum of Rural Life, Linchester Mill and the Choptank River Heritage Center all tell stories of early American rural life of the 1700s on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
