This Eastern Shore region is well served by a full scope of healthcare resources. In addition to two excellent health systems, Caroline County is served by a wealth of medical practices, ranging from dentistry, nursing care and physical therapy to rehabilitation, psychiatry and alternative medicine.

Serving three counties (including Caroline County) and the surrounding areas that make up Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Choptank Community Health System is an integral part of the area’s healthcare community. The private, non-profit community health system operates a number of locations throughout the region, which offer family practice, pediatrics, dental and behavioral health services, regardless of a patient’s financial state. Denton Medical Center, Goldsboro Medical Center and Federalsburg Medical and Dental Center serve respective portions of Caroline County. CCHS also operates School-Based Wellness Centers in the area, as well as a Migrant Health Project for migrant farm workers and their families.

Located in nearby Easton, approximately 16 miles from Denton, Memorial Hospital is a private, not-for-profit, acute-care facility offering a complete scope of inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital is equipped with 137 beds, plus a 33-bed Skilled Nursing Unit. Significant features discovered at Memorial Hospital include the modern Requard Center for Acute Rehabilitation (opened in May of 2007), the Shore Comprehensive Pain Care Center (opened in September of 2007) and a new Emergency Services and Outpatient Pavilion (opened December of 2007). The hospital is also home to a number of centers of excellence, including the Regional Sleep Disorders Center, the recently renovated Digestive Health Center, the Wound Healing Center, the Pain Management Center, the Shore Regional Breast Center, the Shore Regional Cancer Center, the Vascular Center and the Talbot County Children’s Advocacy Center. The hospital has also earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and was among the initial 15 Maryland hospitals to earn Primary Stroke Center designation. The system operates a number of convenient outpatient centers as well, which focus on primary care, treatment, diagnostic services, education and rehabilitation.
