Maintaining Wellness

Eastern Baltimore County is fortunate to have the very best in healthcare with Franklin Square Hospital Center, Franklin Square’s Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Cancer Institute, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and Johns Hopkins Community Physicians at White Marsh, as well as a large number of private practices.

Always at the forefront of technological techniques, Franklin Square Hospital Center offers a full range of services for children and adults. Franklin Square is renowned for its OBTLC program, distinguished oncology staff and state-of-the-art technology, such as Cyberknife and da Vinci Surgical System. All of these services will be enhanced in 2010 with the opening of Franklin Square’s 356,000-square-foot Patient Tower.

Franklin Square Hospital Center extends the utmost care not only to its patients, but also to the community at large through education and outreach and has been recognized for this quality care. Franklin Square is proud to be a Magnet hospital. The designation for excellence in nursing services from the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program® was achieved in November 2008. Franklin Square joins the ranks of just five percent of U.S. hospitals to have achieved this honor. Recently, Franklin Square has also been awarded the 2009 Delmarva Foundation Excellence Award for Quality Improvement, which is based on individual hospital performance improvement in the four national inpatient clinical areas.

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, located in Baltimore, is a full-service, Joint Commission-accredited academic medical center.

Among the wide range of services offered are an area-wide trauma center and the state’s only regional adult burn center. Founded in 1773, the 560-bed facility features several centers of excellence including stroke, geriatrics, joint replacement, wound care and bariatrics, to name a few.

In December 2009, Johns Hopkins Bayview added four new operating rooms, two of which share an intraoperative CT and neuro-navigation tools for brain and spine surgeries. It is the first hospital on the East Coast to have this technology combination. As part of the Johns Hopkins Health System, its physicians hold full-time faculty positions at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. For more information, visit
