Clarkston Introduction

RECOGNITION
Clarkston area was recently named as one of Forbes magazine’s Top Suburbs to Live Well. The Union Woodshop and The Clarkston Union were featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, and in Food & Wine magazine.

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP
The Charter Township of Independence is a growing residential community located in northern Oakland County, some 42 miles Northwest of Detroit. Situated in a rural atmosphere, the community is surrounded by thousands of acres of rolling hills, lakes, woodlands, farms and quiet country roads and marshes. Though frequently referred to as Clarkston, it is Independence Township that is the home of DTE Energy Music Theatre and Pine Knob Ski Resort.

CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF CLARKSTON
Located in the heart of Independence Township, the city is approximately one-half square mile with a population of around 900. Most homes in the city are single-family residences. Some are very old, with great character.

festivals

The picturesque Main Street includes a two-block retail and business area with unique shopping and dining. The hometown feel of the city is apparent throughout the year, and particularly during any of the holiday parades and festivals.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP
Centrally located 20 minutes from Flint or Pontiac, Springfield strategically weaves conservation and preservation together with carefully planned development and succeeds in maintaining the integrity of the unspoiled natural environment. With the headwaters of several river tributaries, Springfield’s lovely tree-lined dirt roads wind through the countryside past parks, farmland and horse farms. To add a sense of place set back in time, the little hamlet of Davisburg has added just 10 buildings since 1900.
